Member Management (Phase 1)

My Role

Lead UI / UX Design

Frontend Development

Summary of goals

To transition the company's employee facing flagship windows program (the Front Desk Monitor) to a web application in order to provide clients with a more intuitive interface for member management, point of sale, and writing contracts.

What is the Front Desk Monitor?

A windows program used by gyms, spas and other clubs needing to manage their members. It handles member check ins and provides complete information on members and their history.

Smooth Transition for Users

Prototyping

Using Adobe XD, I created a high fidelity prototype to showcase to clients and provide usability insight.

The Process

Design changes were decided based on feedback from client services, upper management, client feedback and weekly planning meetings with the development team. The main methods used were user stories and prototype testing. Some feature changes are as follows:

Other Additions

Since this was my first large project, I also created a style guide that would help create consistency across the existing website that Member Management would belong to.

Learnings

More direct contact with those giving feedback to the mockups would have been beneficial so as to not waste time with misinformation.

My ability to design pixel-perfect mockups improved as iterations increased.

The style guide was a great choice to begin with, and made development much faster.
